Three Perspectives, One Narrative
Lipa Metro Centennial Lions Club
The Tuesday Group during one of their earliest gatherings — where laughter, food, and fellowship quietly paved the way for a legacy of service.
📌 A club is more than a charter date — it’s a story of people, purpose, and shared meals turned into shared missions. Here, we share the three original reflections that eventually formed the unified history of the Lipa Metro Centennial Lions Club — each in the voice of a founding Lioness.

Lipa Metro Centennial was built through the initiative of five Past Presidents of the Rotary Club of Lipa West, namely:
@Norma Blanco, @Aida M. Morada, @Maria Liza Pailas Cordero, @Elisa Villaruel, and yours truly.
It all began during our Tuesday dinners.
Every Tuesday, our group of friends — lovingly called the Tuesday Group — would meet:
@Norma Blanco
@Aida M. Morada
@Maria Liza Pailas Cordero
@Elisa Villaruel
Yours truly
@Jimmy Morada
@Vir Villaruel
We started thinking: Instead of just having dinners, why not turn this into something more meaningful?
And so, with the initiative and passion of our Charter President @Aida M. Morada, Lipa Metro Centennial Lions Club was born and chartered...

The Tuesday Group is composed of:
@Norma Blanco
@Lumen Rubio Magaling
Maria Liza Cordero
@Elisa Villaruel
@Vir Villaruel
@Jimmy Morada
and the late @Aida M. Morada
We were seven individuals whose hobby was to eat, eat, and eat (and of course, chat) every Tuesday evening — always ending with coffee or fruit shakes before heading home.
We would try all the restaurants — especially the newly opened ones — around Lipa City and even in nearby towns and cities.
In one of our Tuesday gimmicks (sponsored by @Lumen Rubio Magaling), we were even served by none other than Mr. Alden Richards, the famous actor and owner of Concha's Garden in Tagaytay City!
But beyond food and laughter, we had a common goal — to serve people in our own little way.
And through the initiative of Charter President @Aida M. Morada, after many sessions of planning (and eating, of course!), the Lipa Metro Centennial Lions Club emerged.

A Brief History of Lipa Metro Centennial Lions Club
The Lipa Metro Centennial Lions Club was chartered in 2017, although our first official induction was held in 2018.
As part of Lions Clubs International District 301-A2, we are among the youngest civic organisations in Batangas. As of today, we are in our eighth year, marking our founding in 2017.
Our club likely chose the name “Lipa Metro Centennial” to align with the Centennial branding of Lions Clubs International. During that era, clubs were encouraged to adopt “Centennial” or “Metropolitan” in their names to reflect their reach and commemorate the 100-year milestone of Lions service.
Our Past Presidents:
- 2017–2018 – Noraida Morada (Charter President)
- 2018–2019 – Elisa Villaruel
- 2019–2020 – Porfirio Elmer Reyes
- 2020–2021 – Robert De Los Reyes
- 2021–2022 – Norma Blanco
- 2022–2023 – Liza Cordero
- 2023–2024 – Lumen Magaling
- 2024–2025 – Jimmy Morada
- 2025–2026 – Anthony Orencio (Current)
The Club has been consistently active in community projects, such as:
-
Tree planting
-
Medical missions
-
Feeding programmes
-
Distribution of school supplies and eyeglasses
Notably, under the leadership of each president, the Club has undertaken multiple cause-oriented projects each year.
A significant physical landmark associated with the Club is the lion statue in Alupay, Rosario, Batangas, built during the term of Charter President Aida Morada.
As we continue to grow, the Lipa Metro Centennial Lions Club proudly carries on the global Lions International motto: “We Serve.”
✍️ About This Club History
These three reflections, each heartfelt and true to its contributor’s voice, were lovingly combined to create our official Club History.
This blog post preserves their original contributions to honour the personal journey that led to the birth of our Club.
