Lipa Metro Centennial Lions Club – Club History
📖 1. The Story Behind Our Name
The name Lipa Metro Centennial Lions Club is not merely a title — it is a declaration of identity, purpose, and legacy.
-
Lipa anchors us in the cultural richness and civic spirit of Lipa City, Batangas. It is where our heart beats strongest.
-
Metro expands that reach — embracing the broader metropolitan communities surrounding the city, signalling inclusivity and service without boundaries.
-
Centennial pays tribute to the 100th year of Lions Clubs International. Our club was born as a legacy club, created in celebration of that centennial milestone in 2017.
-
Lions Club marks our proud affiliation with the world’s largest and most enduring service organisation — united under one mission: “We Serve.”
Each word in our name was chosen with intention by our Charter Members, reflecting our collective vision to make a lasting impact across generations.

🦁 2. Roots in Friendship: The Tuesday Group
The Lipa Metro Centennial Lions Club traces its roots to a close-knit circle affectionately known as the Tuesday Group — seven spirited friends whose weekly tradition of dining together evolved into a purposeful movement for service.
This fellowship included:
-
Norma Blanco
-
Maria Liza Pailas Cordero (Tanini)
-
Elisa Antipuesto Villaruel
-
Vir Villaruel
-
Jimmy Morada
-
Lumen Rubio Magaling
-
The late Noraida M. Morada, who would go on to become the Club’s Charter President
Five of them were past presidents of the Rotary Club of Lipa West, bringing with them a rich background in civic service. Their get-togethers, originally a chance to explore restaurants and unwind over coffee, gradually transformed into planning sessions for a new service organisation.
With the enthusiastic leadership of Noraida M. Morada, this idea soon took shape — and the Lipa Metro Centennial Lions Club was born.
📅 3. Chartering and Early Years
The Lipa Metro Centennial Lions Club was formally chartered on 6 September 2017 under Lions Clubs International District 301-A2. However, it held its first official induction in 2018, marking the start of its active service journey.
As one of the youngest civic clubs in Batangas, Lipa Metro Centennial proudly carries the “Centennial” identity, symbolising its founding during the 100th-year celebration of Lions Clubs International.
A landmark legacy of the early years was the installation of a lion statue in Alupay, Rosario, Batangas, constructed during the term of Charter President Noraida M. Morada.
🌱 4. Our Ongoing Service Journey
From its founding, the Club has championed humanitarian causes in and around Lipa. Its flagship initiatives include:
